Boulder Velo Racing ("BVR") was was formed in October 2006. It's founding members raced together with Rocky Mounts from 2004-2006. RM was a larger (60+ members), cycling club with varied interests including MTB, CX and Triathalon, so at the conclusion of the 2006 season the founding members of BVR left to establish a small, road-focused racing team.
The group identified a number of local Boulder companies whose product it could stand behind. While funding was helpful, the primary focus was to develop a symbiotic relationship with one or more leading local companies. The team's primary objective was to associate itself with a local company and healthy product. Mix1 was an obvious choice. Given that it was a recent start-up, we felt as though we could help the company grow through brand awareness of its healthy protein & anioxidant drink in the health-conscious Boulder area.
On the other end of town, Concept3D was another start-up that was only months old. This company offered 3D modeling services, and like Mix1, sought to create brand awareness locally before branching out nationally.
We believed that both of these company's shared a number of things in common with BVR, including:
- both were startup organizations
- both were located in Boulder
- both sought to establish strong brand awareness and a positive identity in Boulder
- both shared a common vision for the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle
As a result, the club raced under the team name Mix1~Concept3D (co-sponsors) in 2007.
While the club is new to the Colorado racing scene, most of its members have many years of bike racing experience - 15-20 years for some.
